Archived Meeting Minutes


The following are abbreviated minutes of the Wisconsin River Sportsmen's Club's meetings. Contact the club secretary for complete minutes.

January 5, 2012

  • Winter trap league started January 8.
  • The super raffle will be held at Wisconsin Riverside Resort, Spring Green (formerly Bob's Riverside), on April 28. 300 tickets are available for sale this year.
  • WRSC's game feed will be held May 19 at the WRSC clubhouse.
  • Sporting clay dates are June 10 and August 5.
  • The subject of naming new directors was not discussed.

December 1, 2011

  • Hosted conceal carry guest
  • Christmas party scheduled for December 3. Clean-up help needed Sunday.
  • Discussed options for running summer sporting clays shoots.
  • 2012 WW Days will be chaired by B. Pailing. Meetings will be the second Monday each month. First will be January 9.
  • Super Raffle discussion, including possible new location.
  • Winter trap league will begin January 8 and will continue for the next five, every-other Sundays.
  • 2012 officer elections held: B. Pailing, President; T. Mabin, V.P.; C. Roberts, Treasurer; L. Hagen, Secretary.

November 3, 2011

  • Game feed date moved to May 19 at WRSC.
  • Member Christmas party scheduled for December 3.
  • Super Raffle date is April 28. Tickets available in January.
  • Approved $250 donation to Wis. Heights fundraiser.
  • Winter trap league will begin January 8.

October 6, 2011

  • New member application for Michael Boland, sponsored by Brad Brunker.
  • Dirt bike ride scheduled for Oct. 22. Meal event chairs are Brad B. and Juan M. Check with them for work roster.
  • Christmas party scheduled for December 3.
  • The game feed is scheduled for March 10 at the Sports Arena in Arena.
  • A small game hunt is scheduled for October 29. Members can bring any small game to the club at
    noon. Brats will be served.
  • 2012 WW Days will be chaired by Bob Pailing. Meetings will be the second Monday each month. The WW committee wants to pour a concrete slab for the beer tent band and are requesting a $100 donation.

September 2, 2011

  • Still have work slots to be filled for Wild West Days. Work days are September 6-8.
  • Dirt bike ride scheduled for Oct. 22. Meal event chairs are Brad B. and Juan M. Check with them for work roster.
  • Discussed sporting clays events and how they can be improved.
  • February game feed: Need to determine if there will be enough game donated and, if so, where the event will be held.

August 4, 2011

  • Still have work slots to be filled for Wild West Days. Will keep Sept. 1 meeting; work day is Sept. 8.
  • Sporting clays work roster filled. Set up on Saturday, Aug. 6.
  • The .22 shoot had 11 shooters. May be expanded in future to include .22 mag and .17 cal.
  • Dirt bike ride scheduled for Oct. 22. Meal event chairs are Brad B. and Juan M.
  • Bob P. has taken a position working second shift and would resign from office.
  • Concealed carry class will be hosted once instructor criteria is determined.

July 7, 2011

  • Four guests at the July meeting: John Palmer spoke in opposition to the United Coop Grain Storage Bin being proposed for a Cty "Y" location; Jean Unmuth talked about the sloughs of the lower Wisconsin River (water quality, plant and fish health); Bob Hughs (Army sidearms instructor) represented "Hollow Point Defensive Shooters"; Mike Krawczyk made a request for the Lions Park volleyball court and skateboard park (will be discussed at August meeting).
  • 53 shooters participated at the June Sporting Clays event. Chicken shoot on August 7 will begin at 11 a.m. Contact Roger Feldt for work assignment.
  • .22 shoot will be July 16 at $5 each.
  • Second-half summer trap league begins July 14.
  • Nearly 80 rods and reels given away at Family Fishing Day.

June 2, 2011

  • Discussed June 5 sporting clays event. Help needed for p.m. shift. Clean-up day on Saturday, June 4.
  • Recent Hunter Safety education class graduated 15 students.
  • Family Fishing Day scheduled for June 18 at Lake Marion from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motion approved to provide cash gift for Roxbury Kipply Shoot and gift certificate for trailer storage.

May 5, 2011

  • Discussed April 30 Super Raffle.
  • Set up schedule for the June 5 sporting clays and chicken shoot event.
  • Discussed Home Talent advertising opportunity.

April 7, 2011

  • Kids' fishing day has been changed to June 18.
  • Super raffle early-bird date was April 7. Set-up meeting is April 28 at the clubhouse; door prizes should be brought to this meeting. On April 30, set up is scheduled for 2 p.m. Workers to eat at 5 p.m.
  • Spring club cleanup scheduled for April 15 beginning at 8 a.m.

March 3, 2011

  • A meeting is scheduled for 7 pm on March 9 to discuss insurance.
  • Kids' fishing day has been changed to June 11.
  • Hunter Safety dates are not yet set.
  • Super raffle early-bird date is April 7. Set-up meeting is April 28.
  • Black Earth Long Beards have requested clubhouse for March 27 for their mentoring program.

February 3, 2011

  • The game feed has been canceled due to the lack of game donations.

  • A Daytona 500 party is planned for February 20. The game feed wild game will be cooked; lunch scheduled for 2 p.m. Trap shooting for anyone interested.

  • Winter trap league has been canceled due to lack of shooters.

  • A Family Fishing Day at Lake Marion to raise awareness of what we may lose if the lake is gone tentatively scheduled June 18.

  • There are new rules for 2011 for hunter education instructors to keep up their certifications. Classes are required.

  • Many members attended the 90th birthday party for Bob Stoller on January 16. Bob is one of the founding members of the Wisconsin River Sportsmen's Club.
