Safety / Range Rules


The Wisconsin River Sportsmen's Club Board determines days on which shooting at the club is prohibited. This currently includes Easter Sunday and other days as announced. County ordinance prohibits shooting prior to 9 a.m. or after 9 p.m. Watch for the "Range Closed" sign at the club entrance.

Trap Range Rules

  • Always, THINK SAFETY!
  • The trap range shall abide by the rules and regulations of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
  • Range hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Guns should be unloaded and the action open, with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times.
  • Guns should be stored unloaded and in gun racks when not in use.
  • Stay behind the fence unless you are shooting.
  • All shooters are to act in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Do not load your gun until just before it's your turn to shoot.
  • Eye and hearing protection are recommended for all shooters.
  • Shooters are responsible for picking up their own debris.
  • Rules will be enforced by designated range officers.
  • Stay behind the fence unless you are shooting.
  • Take home what you brought (don't leave casings, boxes, cans, etc.).
  • Guns should be in racks when not in use.
  • Have respect for others – keep children and pets under control.
  • No handheld or other ground devices allowed – clay targets are to be launched only from club ground machines.
Rifle Range Rules
  • Guns should be unloaded and action open, with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times when not in use.
  • Range hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Range is for members of WRSC and up to two guests at a time. Guests must be accompanied by a member. The member is responsible for the actions of their guests.
  • Time limit is 20 minutes if another member is waiting.
  • Shooting will be done at approved targets only at designated backstop areas. No shooting at glass, rocks, tres, etc. Place targets on wire mesh with clothes pins only. Do not place targets on or outside of wooden posts.
  • Take home what you brought. Do not leave targets, shells, casings, cans, bottles, etc.
  • No automatic weapons or rapid fire.
  • Respect others; keep children and pets under control.
  • Members and guests must register before using the range. A register book is kept in the box outside the club house.
  • Any person found damaging club property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and will be held liable for all damages.
  • Members and guests are to abide by all laws of the state of Wisconsin.
  • It is recommended to use eye and ear protection while shooting.
  • Any member not following these rules will be subject to disciplinary action including but not limited to loss of their membership.
